September is National Black Reading Month! As the month comes to a close, let the reading continue! Born in Detroit in 1980 through the efforts of local Black activists, National Black Reading Month reminds us that literacy, historical knowledge, and the written word are powerful tools for strengthening our communities. At the ADOS Advocacy Foundation, we believe knowledge builds movement. Through our book club, we explore our history, examine the impact of the racial (lineage) wealth gap, and connect the lessons of our past to the issues shaping our future. As summer gives way to fall, don't let the celebration end with September. Pick up a book, revisit a chapter, share what you've learned, and carry that knowledge into the next season. Whether you're new to advocacy or looking to deepen your understanding, our book club is a place to start. Because the more we read, the more we understand and the better equipped we become to advocate for our community. The month may be ending, but the movement for knowledge never stops. Read. Reflect.
